This building was erected in 1927 to house the equipment and personnell needed to connect telephone calls from some 7,000 customers who lived or worked in this section of Detroit.


Architects: Smith, Hinchman and Grylls
Date of construction: 1927
Architectural Style: Art Deco as applied to a functional building for a telephone company.
Use in 2009: I am not sure. I believe that it is owned by American Telephone and Telegraph, a successor firm to the business that constrcted the building.
City of Detroit Designated Historic District: Not listed
State of Michigan Registry of Historic Sites: Note Listed
National Register of Historic Places:This building is a component of the Cass Farms Multiple Property Submission on the National Register of Historic Places.
